Bubble Wrapped in Rhyme

Bubble Wrapped in Rhyme

A Poem by nadia dmitri
"

I am good at putting my feelings into the words people want to hear

"
I am good at putting my feelings into the words people want to hear,
The more filtering and editing I do, the sweeter I appear.

The more I whisper, the louder my real voice tends to sound.
The more honest I am, the less people tend to be around.

People learn to love me under false pretenses,
A manufactured friend shielding you from consequences.

They love this clay sculpted me that they have molded;
The devotion in my eyes as I keep my palms folded.

I make myself small enough to fit in your hand,
And when I ask to be tall you don’t understand.

I have constructed myself to be on display,
But then when I am finally honest you start to run away.

I feel like a monster most of the time,
People don’t like my pain when its not bubble wrapped in rhyme.

I don’t mean to lie or trick or cause mayhem,
People just don’t seem to like me when I don’t belong to them.

So I put myself behind bars and let desperation pay the fee,
I grieve the authentic person I never got to be.

I dig my own grave and put pillows inside,
And dream of a world where I don’t have to hide.

Most people like to make and keep friends, get to know people, find companionship. But is not always possible to be self every second of the clock. Is learning to find that something deep inside that keeps freedom at bay but agreements as true as can be with others. Not easy being human, is it! Your read to be a real being, able to express self, to smile and heel-toe and exchange opinions and the like. Suggest you be YOU because there can be only one of nadia.. she is unique, yes?!

Great writing, finely put, emotionally sound, sharing the feelings of others certainly but - remember - uniquely!!! :)

Thank you for those thoughtful words, I always appreciate your reviews so much :)
hellos, Nadia Dmitri, what a turmoil
it give me a grief, grave look into what a introvert writer must go through
I don't really like others hurting me; but I try to be positive and evasive,
I that works better? :P love the poem and what it entails,

Don't take this as criticism, but it sounds as though these other people's seeming failures stem from the way you feel about yourself. I think you want desperately for them to like you, but what they pick up on is your negative feeling about yourself, and they don't deliver as desired.

Nicely expressed in couplets that express the doubts and complications of relationships and trying to be accepted and please people when you simply become the victim in the end.

ugh..... so full of great lines.... and of course.... then bubble wrapped and packaged so nicely.
I get that feeling. To be the one who feels so deeply but has to keep it at bay.
I like to think of it like this personally, and bear with me here:
I've heard that the gene for the color we see is on the X chromosome. A few very lucky women get two different sets of this gene and are therefor able to see more colors than other people. They see shades most people will never understand. I like to think of my deep emotion this way.
In your poem.... to me at least... you are describing that deepness of emotion. you have to dumb it down because others will just never see those colors... they just cant.
You sure do have a way with words though. Perhaps your bubble wrapped poetry is your way of showing that genuine self!

That makes sense and is a very nice way to think about it, thank you for your comment :)

Well crafted and perfectly pinned to the page .. I do so hope that others will now dare step out of their comfort zones and visit your ink .. because what I have seen of it so far is ink extremely well spilt .. Neville
