Lady Widowed WellingtonA Poem by AutumnBellDark waves pull and rush in a tangled mess. White tips splashing, crashing, on the diamond speckled shore. Plops and drops tickle my face at first, Slowly turning into buckets falling. Clouds darken and twist, Coil and uncoil. Twist and turn. The sea bears it's angry teeth. Crashing over boats, Over flowing moats. Taking away there melancholy sails. Little lady waiting. Watching, Waiting. But her sailor won't come home, Been swallowed hole by a see so deep, so bold. The sky clears, pink rose petals as the sun sets. She watches and waits, but he won't return. Her name now changed, To Widowed Wellington. She who watches the sea, Until her lungs cease to breath. In her last breath she is thrown to the tide, Followed by the cascade of tear drops as she falls. The sea, Teeth bared, Swallows her up. Grinning at it's victory. Saying ' sorry dear, but your time is up'.
