Betrayal.

Betrayal.

A Poem by Nabeeha Mustafa
"

Because at times, the people you can take down a bullet for, are the ones behind the trigger.

"
And all of a sudden,
nothing held its meaning,
She knew it was useless, by now,
as she cried kneeling.
Oh, the scars were deep,
deeper..
A shiver ran down her spine,
and her body surrendered.
Her head spun,
her blurry vision began to darken.
Was that it? Was it all over already?
All she could think about was the first day they met..

Perhaps your best line was the title description "the people you can take down a bullet for, are the ones behind the trigger". In addition to the pain I think you did a great job of capturing just how quickly a betrayal shatters your world

Whoa. Intense. Beautiful. Tragic.

Just freaking gut-wrenching. I mean, betrayal is a wicked thing. So vile and unyielding in its grip, and to think of it seated next to a bullet, as suggested, well.. there is no greater loss is there?

No greater sacrifice and sadness to be had?

I cannot fathom this. And yet I have through your words.

It was brilliant, and brutal in its beauty.

When something like this happens memories are what is going to hurt the most. They tend to tear you apart from within and we will always wonder why we never saw it coming. Guilt is also another factor that would rule in such cases; guilt about the fact that we let ourselves to be taken for granted and fooled and used.
This is an excellent poem. Short but sharp. Simple but strong. Good one Nabeeha :) And i like the head-note very much!
