Letters From No One

Letters From No One

A Poem by Nathan Smith

With a flourish of the pen

And the signing of her name

She finishes the letter

And seals it in an envelope.

There is no return address

And is mailed without a stamp

So that he will never receive

The words she could never say to him.

She doesn't know why

But she’s done it for years;

Writing letters to fill

The cavernous hole deep inside.

It is a sense of completion,

A feeling of finality that she

Can only find

with a flourish of the pen

And the signing of her name.

quite sad this one but I can relate to the need for closure. the letter may never be read but it's writing down the words that will heal this woman and offer her peace

"So that he will never receive
The words she could never say to him."

This poem tells such a cute but sad story. I really like the way you've expressed the emotions. The poetry is beautiful and maintains the flow

keep writing :D
