A Poem by Nini Bukia

We were swimming in the red silence

Silence,like a cut with with a knife

We were lying in the dark room

Too ashamed to say a word

(Or maybe scared)

We felt the smell of electric laser

Laser, running inside our lungs

We thought this feeling will last forever

Without a word

Any single word, at all.

We came and asked ourselves,

Do we hate them or not ?

They said no,

How could they hate somebody, who doesn’t have a face…

And then they left.

Eyes were opening themselves,

Eyes, colored in the dark blue.

Skin was touching itself,

Skin, cold as the fish scales

Can you feel it?

I asked myself

The smell of gasoline

Sweet smell of gasoline

Then I smiled.

It was a smile, like the cut with a knife.

Love the reference to colors in the first stanza and also love the vividness created from the poem.
