On a quiet summer day I take a walk in the park
All I can hear is birds sing and dogs bark
A sharp breeze causes me to roll down my sleeves
Uplifting a tornado of dirt and old leaves
The sun hides itself and the air turns dry
I begin to realize how fast life passes by
What starts as a journey turns into a drift
What we take for granted turns into a gift
As I watch a group of kids run and play tag
I start reflecting on moments I wish I could take back
Days which start with your friends at school
But end with you walking back home from the pool
And months that would feel longer than years
When you laughed your eyes would fill with tears
But the best part was there wasnt any tension or worry
And you were taught not to stress when the future got blurry
But as I finish reflecting and gathering my thoughts
I continue walking home along the trail of rocks
As I look up and notice the sky beginning to dim
I realize I'll experience those moments never again
