THANKSGIVING

THANKSGIVING

A Poem by Barbara Lynne

THANKSGIVING

How I love this time of year

When families gather 'round

The laughter and the chatter

Is such a lovely sound

The smell of turkey roasting

Fills the house with such delight

Who will get the drumsticks?

The siblings, they do fight

Sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes

Gravy and cranberries too

There's apple pie and pumpkin pie

And custard, there are a few

A glass of wine at each setting

Apple juice for all the “little” ones

A special plate filled to the top

Of warm and tasty buns

With all the family seated

They raise their glass to toast

Not the cook or the helpers

We are not the type to boast

We raise our glass to honor

He who provided everything

Our Lord our Savior Jesus Christ

The one and only King

Psalm 100:4

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

About
I have been writing poems and songs since I was a young girl. Sometimes it is easier to say how you feel and what you dream in a poem or song than it is face to face. I appreciate all comments and t.. more..
