THE HIGH PRICE OF LOVE

THE HIGH PRICE OF LOVE

A Poem by Barbara Lynne

 The High Price Of Love
Love is alive and full of zest
Teasing the young at heart
A coy and sensuous maiden
A recipient of Cupid's dart
While embraced in the arms of her first love
Her eyes still take time to roam
She catches a wink from a handsome young man
Soon their love is written in poem
Now her love, so quickly transfered
To this new conquest in her life
Forgotten is her first love
His heart now pierced from love's knife
And all is well, at least she thinks
As time goes dancing by
But her handsome young man has been captured
Drawn in by a young maiden's cry
How can this be, how could he leave
He said we would not part
But now she knows the price you pay
When you freely give your heart
As time goes on another man
Helps ease away her pain
And though she tried she could not feel
His love would be in vain
This maiden girl, now old and tired
Trapped in a cold and loveless affair
Is reminded of her first love
And how she treated him so unfair
Now her life is at it's twilight
True love she has never known
Sadness her only companion
As she sits crying... all alone

About
I have been writing poems and songs since I was a young girl. Sometimes it is easier to say how you feel and what you dream in a poem or song than it is face to face. I appreciate all comments and t.. more..
