AFRAID

AFRAID

A Poem by Barbara Lynne

Afraid

I'm so afraid to take the chance
And give love one more try
I've been alone so very long
Thought my feelings had run dry

But now I see I was so wrong
They were hidden deep inside
Covered up by hurt and pain
And that silly thing called pride

To set my feelings free again
Is difficult for me to do
Maybe I should leave them be
And to love I will bid adieu

 I know i'm being childish
But I've been hurt by love before
And rather than be hurt again
To romance, I've closed that door

But time is stealing my youthfulness
And my life I'm ready to share
I've found someone who wants the chance
To love me and always be there

So I must let go of these "jitters"
And stop being so afraid
Give it over to God and remember
This is exactly for what I have prayed

About
I have been writing poems and songs since I was a young girl. Sometimes it is easier to say how you feel and what you dream in a poem or song than it is face to face. I appreciate all comments and t.. more..
