YEARS GONE BY

YEARS GONE BY

A Poem by Barbara Lynne

Years Gone By

As I look back at years gone by
Sometimes it saddens my heart
Memories creep in and remind me
Of loved ones that did depart

But even though it saddens me
It also brings joy within
To know that they were part of me
Helps this heart of mine to grin

When I turn back time to my childhood
Scraped knees and elbows I had
Trying to learn to ride my bike
With a little help from my dad

My teenage years, well that was fun
Dating, 45's and record hops
Meeting the gang for soda's
At a place that we called "Pops"

Then one day I became a bride
And married my very first beau
If I knew how my life would turn out
I would have told him "NO"

But I never did regret
Being his wife you see
He blessed me with something precious
Three children he gave to me

And now I am a grandma
With a great grandchild on the way
I'm glad that I can look back
To those memories of yesterday

Those memories will always have a place
Deep inside my heart
But now it's time for the future
Where new memories will now have their start

About
I have been writing poems and songs since I was a young girl. Sometimes it is easier to say how you feel and what you dream in a poem or song than it is face to face. I appreciate all comments and t.. more..
