MEMORIES

A Poem by Barbara Lynne
"

remembering what used to be

"
Memories

How sweet it is to ponder
At the pictures that you find
Trying to remember
 The memories in one's mind

A torn faded picture
Of the day that we first met
Hippie clothes and peace signs
I wish I could forget

And don't forget the posters
That we held up proud and tall
Protesting all those causes
We had to fight for all

Mini skirts and beehives
Mascara on my eyes
Remember how you loved those boots
That came up to my thighs

What about your Chevy
How proud she made you feel
We drove her out to Woodstock
Now and then you'd let her "peel"

We didn't have much money
Our love was all we had
Though it was many years ago
Sometimes I still feel sad

Those days are gone forever
Again the will never be
But we'll always have our memories
To share, just you and me

What a wonderful, wonderful Poem Barbara. It's poignant, simple and so true to life, I don't think you have to readily identify with the Woodstock time period to really get the poem, because I get it, and we have all lived it. It's a sweet, sad poem but one that honours us rather than dramatises loss. Even if they're just our memories, we are share the fact that we have them

Thanks for sharing Barbara

About
I have been writing poems and songs since I was a young girl. Sometimes it is easier to say how you feel and what you dream in a poem or song than it is face to face. I appreciate all comments and t.. more..
