I'm just a... what?

I remember in middle school while I was still in Poland, the last day of 8th grade came a little faster than expected.
My and my friends were in the gym, until the bell rang. It was 4pm. The last 4pm we'd see each other.
And, at the time, I was still dating Laura. Someone who was once the love of my life.
So, there she was, holding her composure as usual. I don't know if it had something with age. (I was a year younger than everyone, but no one knew that.)
Tears were streaming out my eyes, as I said bye to everyone for the last time. I grabbed onto my past lover's arm, expecting her to cry with me. Our parents didn't know we were dating, didn't she understand? This was the last time we'd see each other for a long while. Instead, she gave me this fake, empathetic smile with a hint of second-hand embarrassment for her boyfriend.
Eventually, I walked outside and saw my friends once more.
"Guys!" I screamed. They all looked my way, waving. One of my friends was wiping her tears. "Please, don't forget me." I stammered. Not only was I out of breath, but I was on verge of tears. They all nodded and went to their cars for the last time for middle school.
I walked to the front office. My past love was still there, talking to one of her friends. She saw me walk into the office and walked up to me. I was wiping my tears quickly so she wouldn't get embarrassed again.
"Hey! I was just about to call you," She smiled for real this time.
"You know I wouldn't answer. I can't answer when my brother's in the car."
"Right."
I looked at her friend. Some random girl who was too much for me. As I walked back to the front door of the school to look outside, she pulled me back. "Where are you going?"
"Nowhere. I'm just looking outside."
Just then, her car came out. Her and I made eye contact. She had promised me that she would kiss me on the last day of school. My past love just grabbed my face and gave me a forehead kiss.
I rubbed it off and watched her away. I mean... she wouldn't know what I did.
