Cynicism and war

Cynicism and war

A Poem by mystichoot

Here comes the call of war, tell us who are you marching for?

Is it for the big man in the sky?

Is it for peace from tyranny?

Is it for the injustice of another human being?

Or is it something to do with a black golden piece?

Tell us, what are you fighting for?

Is it for democratic place?

Is it for fascist state?

Or is it for heaven sake?

Or is it for heaven sake?

Don’t ask us why, just put on a helmet and rifle on and give war a try.

Left-right,

Just March with the crowd,

and be shot at the crack of dawn,

Just march with the crowd,

And be shot at the crack of dawn,

Don’t March with crowd and be beaten with crack of a whip,

Regardless if you are right or wrong, you’ll still end up a stiff.

Just take right off your grave, and tell those pesky cadavers to behave.

"Don’t ask us why, just put on a helmet and rifle on and give war a try." So typical of wars --- theft of resources from the weak under the guise of "democracy, human rights" and all that BS. The bigger tragedy is those at the front lines do not know why they are being sent to their deaths by their rich and mighty bosses. It happens time after time with no light at the end of the tunnel. You poem captures that cycle of stupidity of the rank and file and the cruelty of the powerful. Great read!

fascinating; this poem would be great for spoken word. Could spark a detailed discussion about all aspects of war; lead to a higher understanding.
