Wayside

Wayside

A Poem by myst-ry
"

inspired by the painting 'Lady at the Window' by Laurie Parker

"

As you move

on the busy road,

I watch

your back facing me.

The new knot by your side

bears a fresh rose fragrance

that I can smell

through this little window

of my junk filled attic.

The screen is same

the hour same too,

but for the gap of the seasons

and temporal partitions

in between.

Tonight again

facing the same screen

from a distance that is one foot still,

the differences are but umpteen.

Proudly, I watch you cruising,

elegantly rising to the peaks,

enjoying your successful ride.

Joyfully, like a maniac

I watch on

celebrating my fall by the wayside.

Then

silently, I watch you

drifting through the glass screen

wishing a mirror it had been...
