Splinters

Splinters

A Poem by mynerdyvengeance

I hear the waves crash over, sending splinters flying towards me

They dig and burn and scar my skin-permanent for all to see

My words could be lyrical

They could be meaningful

But the reality crowds it all

I'll spend all my years with these empty promises of a better day

The sun rose but never set

It was all over for less than a split second

The memory of your face renounced my joy

But the others came crashing back and splintered me

All I could do was reciprocate

My bias overruled all my judgement

These school ties and blazers became too much for me

So all I did was

Let.

Go...
