I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry

A Poem by Chloe Powell

Poem

"

I wish I had told you how much you meant to me,

maybe then things would be different.

If I had just told you how much you meant to me,

maybe his name would no longer sting your throat,

like the whiskey you pour down it,

maybe the scars drawn across your body,

would soon fade.

No amount of smoke could ever make you forget him.

I thought you were smart enough to know that.

Now you're gone,

but the memories will always remain.

Friends or not,

you'll always have a place in my heart.

I hope one day things get better,

that you climb out of the hole you dug yourself into.

I hope you put down the bottles,

the lighters,

the pipes,

and throw away the razors.

I hope you're able to fill your stomach with food,

and not taste it twice.

I'm sorry I never told you,

just how important you are.

The conflict intensity is off the charts. You can feel the temperature rising. Reflection and sadness followed by regret. You did a nice job conveying the emotion and it's well written.

About
I love writing, though I'm probably not even close to being the best. I always either write or draw during my free time and would very much enjoy even a small amount of recognition. I post on Wattpad .. more..
