My Pillows Hum Sweet Lullabies

My Pillows Hum Sweet Lullabies

A Poem by Chloe Powell
"

I don't ever know how to describe poems; they speak for themselves. This is a poem I wrote in my creative writing class and the prompt was simply: Reasons I will not get out of bed

"

The sun rises and the birds sing their morning songs,

but my bed keeps me warm and my sheets hold me close.

I do not want to leave.

My pillows hum sweet lullabies

trying to convince me to lay in bed all day.

The lights are out,

but my clock reads 5:00am.

I do not wish to get on my feet,

the stairs will consume me,

the lights will burn my eyes.

I do not wish to step outside,

to feel the heat of the sun;

she always tries to burn me.

I do not wish to see the clouds,

nor the cotton candy sky,

or the grass sparkling from last night's dew.

All I want to do is be in bed with you.

About
I love writing, though I'm probably not even close to being the best. I always either write or draw during my free time and would very much enjoy even a small amount of recognition. I post on Wattpad .. more..
