Don't play in the Dark

Don't play in the Dark

A Poem by Dani

Once again, I played in the dark
Those dark tunnels seem much lighter when coated with deceit...
But once that shimmering light fades, the darkness mocks you as you try to escape it's depths
Not this time, darkness
I've gotten much smarter
I've gotten much stronger
And now it's me laughing at you
Cause now I can see past the pitch black and uncover your true form
It's spineless
It's weak
It's overpowered by light
And I found the switch

Oh light, how I missed you
Your gleaming pathways come with no intentions
You show what is there, and only what is there
Yes, I fell down
But in return you gave me strength
Not only have you given me strength, you come with gifts to commend me for my troubles
You showed me how things unfold
And from now on
I will cherish these cups of gold
