RelapseA Poem by Ashley CampbellI’ll sink in this sand, Like a folded fan. Willingly. I accept defeat. This same old song and dance, Naive to think I had a chance. To leave this in the past. Where I found it. Sickened by this hopelessness, I hope you can forgive me. Because I just wasn’t strong enough to keep my word. Just strong enough to fail. So familiar these words ring, Of sadness and defeat…. Self-loathing at its best. I fight tears as these words appear, These words of my betrayal. Guilt ridden and ashamed. Like an addict, I’ve relapsed. © 2011 Ashley CampbellReviews
