DoubtA Poem by Ashley CampbellI wish all these weren't so short >.>Forever in this bottomless pit We flail Kicking and screaming, Reaching for the light. Fast we lose hope. In everything, Most often in ourselves. Bask we do in the glory of small successes, The achievement of another day lived. Yet another day, Wasted. Such trivial meaningless pleasures. In the early morning light of a fading summer, I sit and question myself. Pulled from the warm arms of love, And sleep. Chilly. I question myself. Such raw openness does one find in words, Unafraid to speak of fear. Failure. Desire. Hope. Perhaps the eyes are the window to the soul, But these somber words may be the one to mine. Vague and poorly penned, I suffer from a human condition. Doubt. © 2011 Ashley Campbell |
