A Poem by Ashley Campbell
"

Sometimes the truth is short :).

"

Such history exists within these pages,

Between you and I.

Records of need,

Of angst.

Betrayal.

Of vulnerability

And understanding.

Lost children we were upon first meeting,

Knowing we were the adults we would later become.

Was it with mutual relief we were wrong?

On hairline closeness

We tittered

Falling to rageful hate.

But seeing you now.

Me now.

Us now.

Proud of the women we’ve become.

With each day spent with our heads in the clouds,

With each clueless conversation.

For every heart-to-heart,

For dodging passing darts.

Here and now

I am proud to call you,

Friend.

Wow. I really can't begin to express how much I enjoy this poem. The length of a poem doesn't matter when the writer is good enough to condense all of the emotion into it, regardless of whether it's short or not. If anything, the length compliments it a bit.

Also, I'm pretty sure I know who this is aimed at. :) I'm 100% positive that you completely pegged it with what appears to be every single line. haha. "head in the clouds". That is awesome.

I believe so.
I'm so glad that you posted this. It brightened my day and I've already added it to my favorites. Another great piece of writing. :)

EDIT: BEETEEDUBS. I like that you used the word angst. It's a nice word. I like it when people use it. ... That, and plethora..
