Through Minds We WanderA Poem by Ashley CampbellVery unusual poem I know. I don't really know what brought this one on but it's not as dark as the last ones have seemed to be. Do tell me what you think of it though :).
On broken daggers we did fall,
Attempting to make something of ourselves.
On autumn's dead leaves our fingers bleed,
And our hopes died with winter's breath.
Life leaving with the first melted snow.
But to fall so faithless,
So far.
So fast.
Stopping not to see what progress brought,
But only how we failed.
With every bloody second of a blackening death,
Cursing God for this demise.
Faith, in something, will prevail but only God can tell.
But only God will tell.
With shallow vision we see the world for what we want,
Not for what it is.
Not for what it will be.
Clinging to wilted flowers we watch the dragon fall,
Power. Elegance. Majesty.
All of us must fall.
Grounded with mortallity, with stupidity, and sin.
We fail to rise for fear of failure....
So we've been failing all along.
Thrashing in water three inches deep,
We'll drown before we see.
From the rainbows did color drain,
A world of black and white we saw.
We see.
Will see.
Of good and evil.
Right and wrong.
Beauty lost within the core of earth fleeding from curruption.
Failing. Falling. Feverishly dying.
Do we even understand at all?
The Circle of Life runs absolute and cruel,
This we know, but is it true?
Life is death.
But death is life.
Proving God and the Reaper true.
Through frozen forests we walk with our eyes blinded.
Feeling only freezing feet bleed.
Artic winds blow harsh and feirce...
How is it we heat the sun?
