Prophesy

Prophesy

A Poem by Ashley Campbell
"

I've had a head ache since about nine last night...I feel kinda strange which is probably why this poem came out sounding so unusual.

"

Battered and bruised
Alone and confused.
Our brightened world turned suddenly gray.
Fear consumes us,
Greed controls us.
And we strive for personal gain.
Death surrounds,
Hate confines
And we kill for the taste of blood.

The suns sets for the black of clouds,
The moon hidden by despair.
Love, a myth;
Life, a dream.
Where did Hope have to flee?

To that far away land, where bravery stands,
And lies never found to be true.
Where peace and reality lay in the warm summer sun,
Where the grass always seemed to be so green.

But bravery died,
And the rivers did dry.
Life left here long ago.
Left the living dead to the seeds of evil,
Left to bathe in the cold rain of sin.

A dream,
A dream,
Such a nightmarish dream…
Or a prophesy of what is to be.
But the sun still shines,
And life goes on.
With the death of today to be seen.
