To You

To You

A Poem by Ashley Campbell
"

In the poem, words with a * beside it are suppose to be said with sort of a sarcastic tone. The woman in this poem is using these words of affection to emphasize the fact that she was deeply hurt by how useless and powerless he has made her feel.

"

Lost in the darkness of the world
I have strayed from the light of the moon.
And I now bleed freely from these wounds
...but I have brought this upon myself...
A gun to my head..
A knife ti my throat..
And a razor to my wrist...
Come on...show me.
Life has a disgusting little twist.
I'm leaving my fate in your hands.
Just a twitch would do...
I leave the decision...
To you, my dear*
Will blood spill over the surface?
Or will a warm embrace engulf me?
I leave the decision...
To you, my love*
Will you release me into the dungeons of life?
Or cast me into the depths of Hell?
I leave the decision...
To you, my dearest*
For it was you who lead me here,
Bound by the chains of your so called "love".
For it was you who tired my patience,
And it was you who proved me wrong.
deprived of hope for the future
Hating in spite of myself.
And so I leave my fate in your hands,
wrapped around your finger like a frail spider's web...
Just a twitch...would break me.
Make your choice!
Is this not the power you so desired over me?
Why do you hesitate?
Afraid?
No, ignorance forbids you to fear.
Ashamed?
No, you said you'd never be.
So why is it I see tears in your eyes?
What happened to your pride?
...
Lost in the darkness of the world...
I have strayed from the light of the moon...
....From the light of the moon...
...........I am lost.......
