Lost

Lost

A Poem by Ashley Campbell
"

Poetry skills are rusty. Wrote this tiny thing yesterday

"
On a dime these moods are tethered, caught between desperation and faith
Blinded by pain, these lungs struggle to breathe beneath the weight of all this doubt
With conviction I have swam against currents twice my strength, and yet I find this anchor still confound around my feet.
And where has all this hope I have when the day is finally done? Well my friend I find its the bullet in the barrel of this gun.
I'll let Optimism pull the trigger because its mine to a foolish fault, breaking and bleeding I'll merely smile and brush it off.
Unsaid words I've said a thousand times, s till the reason for the tears I cry.For every step taken, I'll take at least four steps back; and in the end I'll still be standing here feeling just as lost.

Here I am, just reminiscing a bit, and I find a new poem from you. It was quite a treat. I enjoyed it greatly, as I have with all of your work I have ever read.
