ChickensA Poem by Ashley CampbellI went to a poetry group meeting with a friend and was given the task of writing a childhood memory in the form of a poem so I did. :DFrom dawn to dusk you could always hear, Near and far they were loud and clear. A cackle here and a cackle there, They made me want to pull out my hair! With beady black eyes they watched as I passed, When one ventured too near I ran away fast! One hundred and one hundred and one hundred they seemed, Clucking and pacing they perched on wooden beams. Despite my deepest sincerest protests, It was I who was forced to clean out their nests. With their tiny sharp feet and pointy beaks, I must confess I hate chickens because... From dawn to dusk you could always hear, Near and far they were loud and clear. A cackle here and a cackle there, They made me want to pull out my hair! © 2013 Ashley Campbell |
