7/25/18A Poem by Bell SpaldingA lovely day with my lovely friends. Put into some words.Four people packed onto one couch like sardines, A mess of arms and legs And fingers mindlessly playing with or braiding each others hair Four friends leaning on each other Like a very comfortable toppling of dominoes Passing chips down the line and heckling Shrek 2 Dancing, actually dancing down the street, Belting "I'll Make A Man Out Of You", A once quiet suburbia echoing with the dulcet tones of "BE A MAN" Talking and talking and talking and talking For ages, and it feels like it's only been about half an hour And the clock reads 2:30 in the morning And it may have been the intentionally administered Mountain Dew But I wasn't tired at all I was nestled in comforters and kind words from my best friends And I realized it was a new kind of happiness © 2018 Bell SpaldingReviews
