Ginette

Ginette

A Poem by Bell Spalding
"

in which I am a stupid angsty teen. Read the "Prologue" of Almost Maine before reading this.

"
I'm nothing but deferential.
Honestly, if my heart ever was really, truly broken,
I'd probably go walking around the world for him,
Overthinking all the way,
And come back to a place that's changed,
An empty bench and abandoned snowball.
I'd just sit in his place,
Lift the snowball into my own hands,
Look up at the sky and apologize.
I'd do the waiting and pondering myself,
Letting the snow fall over me, bury me,
And I'd swear to myself I deserved it.

Deep. Kooky. A little bit out of the box. This one had a kind of randomness about it that appealed to me, whilst still telling a story, and still rich with meaning and intent. Very nice.
