like the lovers do

like the lovers do

A Poem by Cate Mcgowan

I've liked to
Ponder
Realism, when it's late
And you're somewhere
With
Musk and
Sky.
And I like to wish
We could swim
Through this mist of allure,
Tie our hands together with twine
And lilac, and just
Learn to live
Like the lovers do.
I just want
To catch starlight
In my
Caving
Knees
And
Dig my fingernails
Into
Your
Skin
And ache
Like the lovers do.
And I want to be quiet
And I want the moon
To turn away
And blush
For us.
And I want to make love to you
Like the lovers do.

Its broken up lines keep some suspense in it all the way through. Maybe you meant it for breathless pauses or something else. You express all the romantic hopes, combining natural elements into it to create and enhance the scene - musk sky lilac starlight.. you write well.
