the glass you left.

the glass you left.

A Poem by honeyleens
"

and I would think of you in my home, as if you belonged.

"
impression smudged, like
your fingerprints on the glass,
long after you left,
I kept it there, on the table,
and I would think of you
in my home, as if you belonged.

it seems as though the air is
pervaded by this image of you,
like the scent clinging to the
shirt you wore that day,
as i wound around the fact that
I had to twist out the words to
say good bye to you.

and maybe in time,
i will find that the quality of your
being, carried in the air on molecules
too small to be seen, this
delicate fragrance of your spirit
it too will fade, like well washed jeans.
like the haziest of memories.

yes, the influence of you will be
washed away by hands and soaps
and the glass will be put away
and soon, I will no longer be able to recollect
which one it was, (for they all look the same now)
that you used the day you left.

Leena I love this poem because the imagery is outstanding. The line, "and maybe in time, i will find that the quality of your being," is wonderful. His being was carried away in the air on molecules. I can literally, see him floating in the air. It's like when someone loses a loved one, and they can still feel, or see them in the some way.

This is my first time on this site in 8 months, and I still remembered this poem and came back to it. That's saying something.

The healing process in this piece is more then beautiful. You make it all go away with such ease and grace. The elegance of it intricate like filigreed lace. J'adore

Leena, I love this! I do believe I have found another soul that looks at things as deeply as I do......it seems as though the air is pervaded by this image of you. Oh yes! I hold things dear just the same. Wonderful writing!

....some memories are painful. However life goes on. Nicely expressed

Beautifully elegant a stunning piece, imagery that so mundane carries a weight of emotion upon it, pride and decision create a circling dance in the lines of the last stanza. Your words taunt one another with their simple bittersweet melodies, the symphony merge into one and the harmonies of layered depth create a wonderful serenity. Languid and sorrowful, I like it.

I love the end of this when you say "and soon, I will no longer be able to recollect which one it was, (for they all look the same now) that you used the day you left" You really captured the fading of love and memories. Keep up with the studies, I can relate...

This is great! The verbal imagery is fantastic and portrays a sense of longing and letting go and makes you feel that another's presence is lingering both wanted and unwanted. The first stanza is so strong it can stand alone as a poem, and yet it fits perfectly with the others.

I enjoyed reading this. It took me to a place I have been before a few times. it looks like an old farmhouse with white cabinets in my mind!

Memories can be so painful, this poem is a metaphorical gem that reaches out to the reader's heart, with an enhanced expressionof loss and moving on, is what I personally feel, sweetly tragic,
beautifully written.
