Regret

I have change so much
I am stronger
I obtain insight of the world
Yet I can not help to regret

I look back on my mistakes
I wronged so many people
My brash ways scarred many
They show little faith in me

There is doubt in their heart
It pains me when I am reminded
No matter how much I change
The regrets will always remain

As a reminder of my evil deeds
Now til the end of time
I can not change the past regrets
I can prevent future regrets from happening

So I walk towards my destiny
With my regrets on my back
Though they are heavy
It will strengthen me
In mind, body and soul

This poem is, I believe, ultimately wistful and hopeful. There is a heavy quality to it in keeping with the theme, but I like how it ends on a note of lightness.
