Chapter 4A Chapter by EddieChapter 4. “I’m sorry, but if you can’t get
through this interview, how can you sing at all?” Mr. Jones said. “Exactly,” Mr. Abbott pitched in. “Hey, you guys are supposed to bring
in people like her,” Ms. Parker said, trying to keep Ivy. “At least that kid with the
messed-up genes can sing, let alone talk,” Mr. Jones said. He was referencing
the kid named Dawson who had Down Syndrome. “The work of the world is common as
mud,”[1]
Mr. Jones said. “Botched, it smears the hands,
crumbles to dust,”[2]
Mr. Abbot chimed in. Ivy was clearly distraught by those saying.
Ms. Parker noticed this, so she took Ivy out of the room. Ivy went to sit down
and swear under her breathe, as Ms. Parker talked to Ivy’s mom. “Apparently, Mr. Jones and Mr.
Abbott don’t like Tourette’s,” Ms. Parker said to Ivy’s mom. “Yeah, I can tell,” Ivy’s mom said
with an upset look on her face. “You see, they work with these types
of kids, but all they want is for them to speak, that’s all. The talent doesn’t
matter do them, they use these kids for the money.” Ivy’s mom began to tear up. “I’ll
email you later, I need to take my daughter home,” Ivy’s mom said to Ms.
Parker. Ivy and her mom walked out of the
record company and drove home in silence. © 2016 EddieAuthor's Note
