A Chapter by Lucky

The girl started to regain her senses. She could not see anything because it was dark, but she felt as though she were moving because of occasional bumps and the sound of an engine. She could feel that her hands and feet were bound, and writhed and wriggled in an effort to free herself. The only thing that resulted was the tumbling of her phone from her pocket. Her knee touched one of the buttons, and the phone lit the space in which she was held. The girl found herself trapped in the trunk of a car. She remembered back to what her dad had once told her about escaping a car. There were two things to look for, he had said. The taillights, to kick out, or an escape lever. The girl once again pressed the button on the phone to sustain the light. She looked around for both chances of escaping, but could not find either of them. Just as she began to panic, the car suddenly stopped. The car door could be heard opening, and there were footsteps on the gravel. The trunk began to open, and a little stream of light spilled into the car. Unsure of what else to do, the girl pretended to still be unconscious. She could feel two arms reach under her shoulders and drag her out of the trunk. She was handled roughly, as though she were a bag of bricks. The girl was dragged across gravel, then grass, then up some wooden stairs, through a door, and finally hoisted up onto what felt like a couch. A sigh escaped the lips of what the girl assumed to be the same man from the park. Her hands and feet were unbound, and the man walked away, his feet falling heavily upon the floor. The girl opened one eye to make sure he was gone, then opened the other one and surveyed her surroundings. She was in the main room of a small cabin which was sparsely decorated. The only furniture was the sofa she lay on, two adjacent couches, a coffee table next to her, a center table on top of a rug in the middle of a "u" formed by the sofas, and a fireplace. Above the fireplace was a small TV, and on the table in the middle was a stack of magazines. She saw that they were sports magazines. On the small table next to her was a lamp and phone. She picked up the receiver and held it to her ear. There was no dial tone. Oh god, she thought. It doesn't even work. She had wanted to call the police, but that was now out of the question. Her phone had been lost in the process of her being moved, and now this phone did not work. Dejectedly, the girl replaced the receiver. It made an unexpected click, catching the attention of the man, who was in the adjoining room. There was a clatter of utensils, and the man started walking back to the main room. The girl scrambled back to her "sleeping" position. The man came up to her and chuckled.
"So you're awake," he said knowingly.
The girl almost jumped with surprise. She recognized that voice. It was all too familiar. But it was not the voice she had expected it to be.
"Come on," the voice coaxed. "You know better than to play games with me."
The girl's eyes shot open. Her captor examined her face.
"I almost forgot how beautiful your eyes were," he said, wistfully, almost lovingly.
It was him. The boy from the park. Not the little boy. Not Lane. It was the boy she had been waiting for.
