Tonight, We Know

Tonight, We Know

A Poem by Delaney

Tonight,
We die.
In honor,
of our people.
Die for what we believe in.
Resemble what we are about!

All of our lives,
We sit alone.
Thinking,
Waiting,
And watching.
We watch people love,
Hate,
Die,
And cry.
We watch that,
And do nothing.

From afar,
We see a man,
Alone,
With a couple near by.
He is probably thinking,
Does he deserve love?
Did he have one at one point?

We watch this man,
Do his own thing.
But we know,
That he knows,
He will die in honor,
Of what he believes in.
No matter what...
No one can change his mind,
Except him.

Wow. This poem brings up so much thoughts. I never really thought how much people sit and envy, maybe not envy persay but reflect on our lives through others. We see someone else being happy and we think "wow why can't that be me. Why am I not happy in this moment." And we rely on other people to make us happy yet people leave. The only person we have to make us happy is in fact ourselves. This is very well written and truly thought provking.
