Tigers and Lions

Tigers and Lions

A Poem by Amanda

The look on your face is louder
Than you could ever try to speak.
The secrets you keep to yourself,
Are the ones I try my hardest to seek.

I can see that fire burns in your eyes,
It burns right down to your soul.
There’s something inside of you,
Fighting to make itself whole.

But you’re just a little girl,
Trying to hide in a little boy.
Tell me where your happiness comes from,
Give me the tales of your joy.

How achingly sad it must be
To constantly plaster a smile to your face.
How can you look at yourself,
Don’t you feel out of place?

The people who hate you
Come about you every single day.
Don’t you ever wonder what about you,
Made them not want to stay?

You always make these excuses,
Others are always the ones to blame.
But when they leave you,
There’s something that stays the same.

You’re alone once again,
The way that you always will be.
Because even a blind man,
Can so very easily see;

That you are not the type of person
That you make everyone believe.
You can be a nice person in deceit,
But then everyone you deceive.

You’re like the ultimate predator,
Sharp and quick and easy to hide.
But even tigers and lions,
Are pretty on the outside.
