Matthew

A Poem by Amanda

Living in this hell on earth,
My views on life have gone bad.
Watching the world spin day to day,
This place has made me go mad.

People will put on fake smiles
And make you believe they're your friend.
But the second you've been used up,
They drop their game of make pretend.

Parents always say they love you;
That you are the star that brightens their world.
But then the day comes when they hate you;
They won't even speak to their little girl.

Boys will charm you and let you fall
For just another boy to kiss.
But then they leave you bloody and broken,
Just another boy to miss.

When I was growing up,
The world seemed to move easy and slow.
But I never remembered it getting harder
And I never told it faster to go.

Though throughout this life
I've been expected one thing to be.
And I've been searching for perfection,
But instead it found me.

If it weren't for your love,
I can't imagine what I'd do.
But each time I start to lose hope,
You're there to pull me through.

I still hate this putrid life
With all their plastic faces and denial.
But being in your arms
Makes me forget the world for a while.
