I blew up a balloon

I blew up a balloon

A Poem by Jim W White

Air pushes outwards,
In perpetual battle with
Rigid skin.
I imagine the appetite
For exploit is
Universal and automated.

Longing for a journey:
A pocket of thought,
To bulge against rock,
To scratch bark,
Gain a tear, leak gas and
Lose some altitude

Sounds like life we go up a bit, then deflate gradually. Or sometimes with a bang. Some float off and are never seen again. Others get tangled in trees and wires for years. Nice one.
