WOODED VALLEY

WOODED VALLEY

A Poem by M.K. JOSEPH

She ran into the woods
I followed quietly
Only because she asked
The sun was dying
And the darkness lurked
She needed company
I thought as I jogged behind
Little did I know
She wasn’t scared of the woods
More than I was of her
I was exactly where she wanted me
Alone and with my guard down
Her plan had worked
She wasn’t the prey
But the predator
And I was the prize
