HEALING.

HEALING.

A Poem by M.K. JOSEPH

She stood alluringly by the window.
Watching the ducklings swim in the pond.
For a moment in a week I felt like a man again.
Looking at her nearly nude body silhouette against the rising sun.
She wasn’t her but I felt equally as fallible.
And silently calculated the risk involved.
She wanted to be taken as she was.
Raw, flawless and with no strings attached.
But I knew what that moment meant.
My choice would change everything I ever wanted.
And there would be no turning back if I took her offer.
So I just sat there watching.
Torn between letting go of the one that had broken my heart,
And ignite a new flame with the one that now stood before me.
Or continue drowning in my misery.
Hoping that it had all just been a bad dream...
