STAINED

STAINED

A Poem by M.K. JOSEPH

An old gilt-edged florid frame covered the
enormous hole
One of the innumerable on the ruinous wall
Yet the muslin remained intact behind the shattered glass
Preserving the time-stained portrait of the one he truly loved
One that had broken his molar with an antique carafe
Staining half the wall with wine and blood spatters
Marking yet another brawl under the sun
With one of his many fancy women.
