Sacramento, California

“Come quickly, love.” Rupert Weatherstone said as he brushed his shoulder-length golden red hair off his face. Coming out of the chapel a gust of wind blew Anaiya’s wedding veil off her head. Rupert walked up, and hurried his new bride down the chapel steps, or what remained of it. Anaiya stopped and looked out at what used to be the town of Sacramento. A deep pain erupted in her heart when she thought back to when the English had bombed them. She closed her eyes and saw the fire and debris everywhere and the countless corpses that lined the streets. Sacramento was a war zone, and everyday was a constant reminder of what little hope the future promised. The darkness of reality had finally sunk in.

“You know what Hector and his men will do if they find you right?” Anaiya said turning towards Rupert. She tried to hide back tears. Rupert walked up to her and without warning bent down and kissed her. His hot lips burned hers with his love and desire for her.

“They won’t love, and soon we’ll be free to be with each other.”

His warm smile comforted her. He pulled her closer to him, and wrapped his strong arms around her in a way that let her know she was safe, protected. It was like the war had never existed.

“Sorry to break this up folks, but I think we ought to be leaving.” Raymond Everett chimed in. “I can see Hector's tanks just ahead."

When the soldiers reached the chapel, they saw nothing but ruins.

Lieutenant Leland picked up Anaiya's lost wedding veil, and clutched it tightly.

"damn." he said, and in a fit of rage he broke the rim in half.

A silence filled the car as Rupert gazed at his bride.

“Are you cold love?" he said taking off his jacket.

"A bit." she said putting it on. It was still warm from the heat of her husband's body.

Rupert could tell that something was still troubling her. He wrapped his arms around her in a loving embrace.

"Listen I know that something is wrong, why don't you tell me hon." he said softly in her ear.

Anaiya let out a heavy sigh.
“This isn’t how I imagined my wedding day to be-"                                "we're coming up on highway patrol. Get down, and cover up." Raymond said cutting her off. She resentfully obeyed.

Raymond rolled down the window, pulling out his fabricated license, and registration.
The highway patrolman walked up to the car rather quickly. He snatched Raymond’s license from him. The officer looked about forty-five with a graying hair, and moustache.

"Do you know you are in a restricted area Mr. uh....Shroder" the officer said reading the license.

"Oh, I was just passing by on my way to Stockton, and got horribly turned around."
Raymond said swaying is short blonde curls to the other side of his face. He left all traces of his English heritage behind, and spoke with an incredibly believable American accent. The patrolman eyed Raymond intensely, however; Raymond didn't even flinch. The man's gaze went over to the pile of wrapped boxes over a red quilt in the back seat.

“what are those boxes for?" he asked.

“For my niece, it's her birthday tomorrow, and I got her a couple of things. Now is that all officer?" Raymond said with little more than smirk on his face.

The patrolman seeing that he has clearly been outmatched gave Raymond his belongings back.

“You stay out of trouble now Mr. Shroder."

With that they were on their way.

“Adam, my son, I’m getting rather tired of these failures, One after another, like little dominoes” GEN.  Leland said eyeballing his already edgy son.

“I assure you GEN. that this won’t happen-“

“Enough!” the deafening tone made Adam flinch. Right then COL. Neman came in panting.

“Permission to speak sir.” He said through tired hurried breaths.

“Go ahead.” GEN. Leland said.

“We have some new developments; it is believed that a blonde haired man by the name of Marcus Shroder was seen near the restricted zone around the same time that the wedding veil was found at the chapel.”

All of the sudden GEN. Leland’s face lit up.

“Get me shroder now!” he yelled only this time both Adam, and COL. Neman flinched.

I like it so far. Definetly has my attention. Love the rebirth of the old American vs. British theme going on here. Keep 'em coming.

More! More! I think this is a great start!

The scene is full, and the plot is gripping!

My only comment would be a little more character discription.
Other then that, this was really good!

Great Start!
