The Beach

The Beach

A Poem by Kenny Carcaterra

as i walked along the beach
thinking myself alone
i looked up from the book
my nose was buried in
to find myself surrounded by poetry
a gull hovering on the wind
sand sifting between my toes
sunlight crystallized ocean waves
one wave, tipped with foam
reaches out to me, washing my feet
touching my heart
