The Thoughts Of "I Know"A Poem by Mufaro Kudakwashe Joseph Mangono
He looked from left to right And he did not see them in sight And kept wondering what went wrong And the wind joined him in his song But in it all he found no solution And the city of his heart was filled with pollution Everyday then, he kept on crying Till he saw he was actually dying That was when he realised it was no use That was when he realised the excuse for excuses And in it they were the thoughts of “I KNOW”
He then realised it was him for him That in it all fate was just another beam For its heart was a spectrum of illusions For its heart was filled with hallucinations But all the same the theme went on Continued to be poignant till it was gone He then proclaimed himself a pragmatist Changed till he was a Sceptist Even so, between the lines there was no happiness He tried to visualise a world that could confess And these were the thoughts of “l KNOW”
He then looked from right to left And his thoughts were now in theft But he told himself he was made of steel Told himself he could not possibly steal And he kept on struggling with his soul as the wheel And how he hated the very thought Wanted to believe it was a dream of some sort Though they could have been the thoughts of “l UNDERSTAND” They were of “l KNOW”. © 2013 Mufaro Kudakwashe Joseph MangonoReviews
