Tick Tock

Tick Tock

A Poem by Mufaro Kudakwashe Joseph Mangono
"

How time is an independent spectator.

"

You keep on whistling echoes of fate

You keep on persuading stillness to be your mate

Knowing that tomorrow is bound to be yours

You just do not mind when you pause at four

Here and then you are slowing

But nevertheless your system is always flowing

A man is running out of the tocking

He is thinking of the basic choking

Moments later it was really suicide

It was something he did decide

Some say his life was ready

Realists say he was not so steady

And l suppose death was his religion

But unfortunately Tick Tock kept on ticking

In love a prince is sinking

In return the princess keeps on blinking

And both release passion in their thinking

But have you heard the latest news

That in order to laugh they hire fools

And that in reality, it is not the love that is alive

But it is the hidden hatred for hate that strives

And in it all Tick Tock shows no gratitude

For he assumes they are amongst the multitude

Realising their love is on a diet

They end up like Romeo and Juliet

But Tick Tock keeps on ticking.

Love and time. It does go together. I like how you told the tale. The repetition gave strength to the story in the poem. Not good to end up like Romeo and Juliet. A dead love leave no happiness. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
