![]() Symphony declinesA Poem by Mufaro Kudakwashe Joseph Mangono![]() A critique by a former participant is naive![]()
All the sleepless nights All that could have been and all that might Set alight reality to confirmation Dribbling past feelings and temptation Making you wish past actions, you would vomit Making you see the sins you were about to commit And deduction and logic is erased about And feelings and emotions are phased out You then start to think, blink and sink Tomorrow you then drink and still think You then look at a bottle of wine And appreciate that a symphony can decline
And back then you thought eloquence you would cap But now, but now you know it was a trap And you ponder and realise What point fate had to emphasise And you stare at your jargon And you throw yourself into death’s wagon Believing in yourself, in angels you shun And of life you buy yourself a gun And of a love that was, you are capable to kill And of metaphors you feel ill And all the thoughts you render them divine And appreciate that a symphony can decline
And you say there was once a Kudzai And you shall say there was once a Tendai Within dreams you look at their faults And think they brought yours to a halt And you start to appreciate you are above them You then know your feelings were a shame You then ask yourself why you were jealous You then curse yourself for being zealous And now you say good riddance And now you are glad to be at a distance You now thank fate that she is not mine And bellow out a symphony can decline The past, and the past you elude And the future, the future you conclude And your soul starts to shine And you are happy that the symphony did decline © 2013 Mufaro Kudakwashe Joseph MangonoFeatured Review
