Portrait of a Dog in 97 Words

I have a pretty stupid dog but she inspires poetry i guess.

grey haunched hound slouches

hungry in the earth

grins slaverjawed among dull green

her head a sharp anvil

ears singing with 

her hunt

tonight she’ll scour a thousand

fields in the dark

push her damp snout and drink in

the scent from bristling hedges

and tangled grass

long boned hound lying

dead pile on the rug

legs splatterpawed and reaching

her great hollow heart

hammers behind bars of bone

and thin curtains of hair

her chest rises like bellows and

falls into a wheeze

tomorrow she’ll rise and 

greet the sun with

a mirror calm

deerhound stare

Great descriptions, great use of word combinations like "slaverjawed" and "splatterpawed". I love the juxposition of getting ready to hunt and the aftermath. You've used some wonderful metaphors and similes here. Can't really say I see anything that needs improving, not with such a tightly, well-written poem. Kudos!
