The stupid dog

A father and daughter pass by a pet shop and walk in. He doesn't realize his mistake till she's pleasing, and his nose is being licked. The drive out to a country cabin where they will meet up.

He saw something out of the corner of his eye.
He woke up; something warm and red was dripping in his face, bright green light also sparkled at him as he blinked and tried to wipe his eyes. He was reclined fully, still in his seat but tilted back like a shuttle astronaut.
