Its Our Destiny

Its Our Destiny

A Poem by Melody Telleria

More than once a day we pledge our minds

to new beginnings and second chances.

We forgive ourselves and others for wrongs

we'll do again and proclain promises that are

already in the works of being broken and forgotten.

It's a burdensome cycle we course through,

for as humans, it's our destiny to be

misunderstood and out of bounds,

to be caught in snares, to seek revenge

against the guilt that permeates and surrounds.

The fragility of our composition and questionable

creation is the scattered path of stepping stones

that lie before us in wanton disarray.

These bones of crumbling calcium hold together the

beams of balance that help us on our way.

They carry us across the meandering bridges into nothingness.

If only we took the reigns and stepped with faith,

on seemingly invisible paths that solidify

and present themselves to searching eyes

with each deposit of hope and duress.

The gambling slots in the earth,

hungry for your greed and knowledge

and feeding off our wayward minds.

They grasp with tentacled roots, hoping to find reason

for the endless destruction and desolation of our kind.

How to strive for worthiness and acceptance

when we fall at every other step?

The truths of the universe wisps through the air,

intoxicates our blood and screams silently,

waiting for us to reach out, grasp firmly, and accept.

I really like where your head's at. I've definitely contemplated the cyclical tendancies of the human psyche, as well as this profound thing we call the art of promising. I love it when other people have a tendancy to ponder such abstract ideas with little nuances.

The art of promising has been mastered and perfected into impossibility over the ages. I'm glad you .. read more
Ive been going through alot with family and all this week and I just want to say that this has changed my life. Ill tryo to accept things as they are even though its hard at times. I may have no job no way to get around (I dont know the bus system yet) but I still let all the negative comments that everyone says get to me. Been that way for years now. I just hope that I get to where I want in life when I dont think to myself that this entire writing thing and be wanting to become an author isnt a "pipe dream" I have a hard time believing in myself so if I really try to just let things be and focus on my writing maybe itll get going. Then I can really do what I want which is go live in New York, travel to Scottland and Ireland. Then live in Paris for one year ( I think i might live there idk) But thank you for writing this again your poetry has touched me.
