Across the World

Across the World

A Poem by Melody Telleria

Chasing dreams across the world,

an everlonging desire to see fulfilled

the hunger inside me for so long

to feast my eyes on this worlds endless song.

The beauty of the old lands proclaiming

their stories and slowly forgotten history

through raised cobblestones, fierce roads

or cracks mapping themselves on buildings,

dwellings of old gods and others tempting us

with mouth-watering taste bud sensations.

Then the looming structure that remind us

of those who thought and taught and fought before us,

who demanded respect and took it without preamble

then watched as people trembled in their presence

and built their likeness of choice and great colossus.

Their earth sings of long ago when we really don't know

the way of life and daily struggles of those

who set our paths in motion and disappeared

into their eminent extinction.

To see, to breathe, to embrace

what is no longer alive but stands through time,

for it's the spice and missing link to what we crave in this life.
