New Eyes Burning Bright

New Eyes Burning Bright

A Poem by Melody Telleria

She feared the worst would come one day,

when the darkness siphoned her soul

and her spirit would fade and fly away.

And so living became a sensual game of the senses,

a daring dance around fire uncontrolled,

a mind tease of pretenses,

a mad rush to find the mythical pot of gold.

Gone and dismissed with with careless abandon

are the ties to propriety and the loyalty to guilt.

She's struggled, but accepted her wayward ways

and maneuvers her wiles with charm and stealth.

New eyes burning bright, wild gleam in the night,

she's a thief is skin tight black with a lovely knack

for becoming the only heartbeat in sight.

A riddle clothes her and whispers the secrets

to a life on the edge, to an adventure neverending,

and a journey thats begun full-fledged.

She feared the worst would come one day,

and so she sacrificed reason to the beautiful

chaos of living astray.
